This project aims to create an anthropomorphic mascot for brand identity. I have created a chameleon character named Frida to honour the drag cabaret productions that would often feature at the Fringe Art Festival.
Chameleons are known for their ever-changing, vibrant colours. Like drag performers, chameleons can present themselves in campy, vibrant, showstopping hues that leave people feeling awestruck. I want to make people feel excited and playful when they see the Fringe shows. Having a drag queen chameleon will give them an idea of their experience if they attend them.
For the character design, I've based Frida's 'scale' tones on Fringe's brand identity colours. To achieve a drag look, Frida has notable lashes, heels, and a cinched waist. I've played with her face design as if her scale colours are used to look like drag makeup.
